What's new in Sail Replay 1.4?

Winter is coming and during the summer and fall a whole lot of new features found their place in the latest Sail Replay release.

A lot of requests were sent in and we found a place for most of them, but let's start with the big ones!

New features

TSS scenario import

Finally managed to understand how the TSS file format is constructed and here you have it, fully supported, minus the embedded images. It's a feature Sail Replay does not support at this time.

Wind tool

A much needed feature, where you can create a scenario with the wind coming from the bottom or any other direction. It can also oscillate during the animation.

Mark laylines

To follow the wind oscillations you can set the laylines for the mark.

Ladder rungs

And to see which boat is ahead, display ladder rungs to easily determine the relative position according to the wind.

Manual jib trim

Jib angle usually follows the main sail angle. Manual main sail trim now affects both sails, with an option to define jib angle separately. 

"Round the mark" arrow

Want to create a course diagram, where you need to define on which way to leave the mark? Look no further. With a single click add an arrow to the mark, position and style it according to your wishes.

Drifting boats

In some situations the drifting is automatically detected within the scenario and boat movement is adjusted accordingly. But you can enforce this with a simple click and make a boat drift due to strong wids or currents.

Reorder tracks

Sometimes the boats overlap one another and you need to reorder the tracks, to make the timings and positions visually more clear. Scenario settings now allows you to do so easily by simply drag and dropping them.

Scenario title

Add a scenario title and subtitle and display them during the presentation.

Text bubble

A text element can now have a bubble-like rounded background.

Custom flag color

Besides all the flags you typically need on the race course there's an option to display a custom colored flag.

Boat repositioning options

• If you drag a single boat, only that boat is moving around.
• If you drag a single boat and hold option, boat positions following the dragged boat also move with the mouse.
• If you drag a single boat and hold shift, boat direction is also adjusted.
• If you drag a single boat and hold command, all boat positions are repositioned.
• If you drag a boat track, all boat positions are affected.

Fixes

Some bugs were squashed since the last release:

• AC75 boat outer/inner border marking did not follow the boat correctly if moved
• triangle mark text was misaligned for bigger marks
• arrow heads are drawn following the curvature and are bounded to the length of the arrow, not extending it
